LHT's favourite blue

Sky blue, sea blue, turquoise blue, navy blue, I’ll take it. My room is painted in blue, lined with blue wallpaper while my cupboards, room interior, bedsheet and curtains are yup…in that colour, too. Even my work station at work is blue, complete with matching blue stationeries, toys, notice board, décor, cushion, trays, etc. My obsession with this colour….hhmmm…seems quite obvious to friends around.

One would think that I would take this obsession into the colouration of my clothing but quite to the contrary, I have a lot of pinks in the cupboard. I think I’m a pinkie when it comes to dressing but the blue started when I was younger when I wanted a colour that was not too girlish. Yeah, I was still a tom-boy when I liked that colour. As I grew older, I learnt to wear dresses, frills, tubes and mini skirts. Not too long ago, I wore only jeans and boyish T-shirts with boots. Yes, I was the tomboy and a horror to my mum who is like this super dresser. Dad said that mum never wore a single dress or blouse twice in their courtship duration of 9 years. So you can imagine how mum was trying her best to make me wear blouses and skirts.

It started with blouses wit sleeves, then sleeveless ones, knee length (very modest and aunty looking) skirts and then it took a drastic turn when I discovered the world of clubbing. Mum was so excited about my clubbing experience that she took extra effort to help me choose make-up (the whole set from foundation to the eye-shadow) and she bought me a white tube and a pencil skirt with a super high slit. Then, the wardrobe change began and whoalah! My wardrobe now has minimal t-shirts and loads of frilly and ribbony dresses that are pink. -Hoey Theen-
